CLOSED CELL SPRAY FOAM

Spray foam insulation is quickly becoming recognized as the premier method of sealing a structure from both air and moisture infiltration. Closed-cell foam creates a vapor barrier that significantly reduces utility costs and protects against moisture condensation and mold growth.

With a thermal resistance value of 7 per inch (R-7), spray foam can be applied in the sloped sections of the roof in order to reach the increasing standards of many municipalities within Connecticut. The recent changes to the CT building code stipulate a resistance value of 49 for new construction in all ceilings above a heated living space. While an R-49 Fiberglass batt is available, it requires 16 inches of space. That same space can be insulated with spray foam to a value of R-49 in just 7 inches.
